Ingredients:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 5 cups flour
Cream together the sugar and butter, then add the sour cream and blend. Stir in egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix the baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour. Add this to the sour cream mixture and blend well. You can roll out dough and cut it right away, but the dough seems to handle better if it is first refrigerated for approximately 1-2 hours. Roll out the dough and cut on a floured surface. Bake cookies at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes 4-5 dozen. Frost with vanilla butter cream frosting (recipe below).
Vanilla Butter Frosting:
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- ~2 Tbsp milk
Mix powdered sugar and butter. Stir in vanilla and milk. Beat until it is frosting consistency. Add desired food coloring.
