We got this recipe from the cards that Dick’s Supermarket has available, so I don’t know how authentic it is, however, it is darn tasty! It has a little sweetness to it and a little kick, too. It’s a change of pace from the “normal” taco filling. We normally use whatever kind of onion we have on hand rather than the green onion.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 green onion, diced
- 1/2 tsp minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp minced jalapeno pepper
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
Brown the beef. Add onion, garlic, and jalapeno. Cook 3 minutes until onion is soft. Drain the mixture.
Add all remaining ingredients and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes.
Serve in hard taco shells or flour tortillas with whatever taco toppings you like!
