This recipe came about because I had lost my copy of Mom’s recipe and so had she, so her and I got together one Saturday and recreated the recipe, we feel better than the original!
Slice baking apples in a 9 x 13 pan until it is 3/4 full.
Pour 1 1/2 cups sugar over the apples.
Add cinnamon to taste over the apples and sugar (I put a good cover over mine, as we like the taste).
1 cup hot water over all of it.
Topping:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt (optional)
- 3/4 cup butter (room temp)
Mix well and spread over the apple mixture.
Bake together in a 350 degree oven for an hour or until apples are soft.
