“Best ever pizza.”
**Note from Paula: I remember the Christmas Eve that we made this at Mom and Dad’s. I remember having to wait way too long to eat it, however, remember it being VERY tasty!
Dough:
- 1 pkg active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup warm water (105-115 degrees)
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Mix yeast with sugar and add warm water. Let stand in warm place approximately 10 minutes. Mix flour and salt. Slowly add yeast mixture and oil. Knead dough until consistency is smooth and elastic. Put dough into a greased bowl and then turn to coat all sides. Cover with a towel and let rise in warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour. Secret: Turn oven on to 200 degrees for 5 minutes while mixing dough. Shut oven off when done mixing dough and place it in the oven to raise.
Roll dough out on lightly floured surface to fit pizza pan. Grease pan and sprinkle lightly with cornmeal. Place dough in pan.
Sauce:
- 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 1 tsp pizza seasoning
- 1 tsp sugar
Mix ingredients and warm up in medium sauce pan. Pour sauce on crust and top with desired toppings.
Enjoy! I hope it is as good as remembered!
