“It sounds like a lot of work…but it’s worth it!”
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb. mild italian sausage
- 1/2 lb. ground chuck
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 clove minced garlic, or garlic salt
- 1 large jar of Prego spaghetti sauce (whichever flavor you prefer)
- Lasagna noodles
- 1 large container small curd cottage cheese
- 1 egg, beaten slightly
- 1/3 cup freshly shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/3 cup dried parsley
- Salt & Pepper
Brown meat, onion, and garlic in a large skillet. Add sauce, and heat through. Meanwhile, boil water in a large pot with salt. Add 12-15 lasagna noodles to boiling water and cook for 6-8 minutes. The noodles will be pliable but not completely cooked. While the noodles are boiling, combine cottage cheese, egg, cheeses, parsley, salt, and pepper. Drain noodles and cool with water. In a 13×9 pan, layer the noodles, 1/2 cheese mixture, 1/3 sauce, more noodles, 1/2 cheese mixture, 1/3 sauce, the rest of the noodles, and the rest of the sauce. Sprinkle with more mozzarella.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Let stand for at least 10 minutes before cutting.
