We first met because we lived in the same residence hall our first year at UW Green Bay in the fall of 2011. We were both forced by our RA to go to “Res Life Olympics” the first week on campus. We barely talked there, but those of us who went became a group of fast friends.

At first, we were just friends in the same circle. We hung out together in groups, but never really spent time one-on-one. A few months into the year, Nicki realized she liked Cam as more than a friend, and she ended up messaging Cam on Facebook to ask to borrow his seasons of NCIS on DVD just to get him alone.

Despite her flirting, Cam was a little slow to catch on. It took about a month of Nicki making moves before he noticed and made one back. A few weeks later, he FINALLY kissed her, and so started nearly a decade (so far) of pushing each other to be our best selves, traveling and learning new things — growing every day. We feel so lucky to have incredible models of love in our lives that have taught us what it means to be in a true partnership. To be continued!
