This is a great camping meal– similar to pasty, without the crust.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb browned hamburger (with chopped onion, salt, and pepper)
- Diced potatoes (1 per person)
- Chopped onion
- Butter
Spray inside of aluminum foil bag or doubled aluminum foil sheets. Combine all ingredients inside “the package”, wrap up and throw onto the fire or grill. Turn over after 10-12 minutes. Remove from fire after 25-30 minutes and serve. Frozen veggies can be added, if your family eats that type of thing… it’s hot, fast, and delicious.
Nicki & Cam’s Revised Version
Nicki and Cam have altered this recipe slightly- this goes to show how versatile this idea is! Use any/all of the below ingredients in whatever proportion you want!
Ingredients:
- Raw ground meat (beef, pork, turkey, ham, etc.)
- Diced potatoes (regular and/or sweet potatoes)
- Chopped onion
- Chopped carrots
- Frozen peas
- Frozen corn
- Butter/margarine
- Seasonings of your choice
Spread a thin layer of butter/margarine in center of tinfoil sheet. Add raw potatoes, veggies, and crumbled meat onto sheet. Add seasonings of your choice to taste (we use pretty much anything- from traditional salt & pepper to Cajun, 5-spice, or maple/bourbon/ginger). Fold foil to create a pocket, being cautious not to puncture the foil. Cook on the grill or in the oven at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
